About the Lewis Highland Games
The Lewis Highland Games has been staged for around a century, this will be the 35th event hosted by the community of Tong, 4 miles north east of Stornoway.
The Lewis Highland Games is becoming one of the major summertime events on the unspoilt and uniquely different islands of the Outer Hebrides, and is rightfully gaining its place on the world Highland Games competitors' circuit. A celebration of local culture, this is a traditional community run event, that is as popular with the locals as with the many visitors who travel to the islands to be a part of it. Recent events have attracted top competitors in traditional events from Highland dancing to caber tossing, and even the Red Arrows have flown in to take part!
The unusual combination of traditional Heavy events and the more recent Strongman competitions have created quite a bit of interest on the UK circuit and already several mainland competitors have registered to compete which should lead to some great action on the field.
